A basic blog installation includes all the back-end work on your domain, hosting and onpage installation and configuration. To order your blog all you need to do is upload some basic business information and choose the look and feel you want your blog to have initially from thousands of free designs.

I use the Wordpress blog platform and some of the Internet's leading hosts for your blog. You may elect to have your new blog hosted at Hostgator, Dreamhost or Bluehost (see the hosting tab for pricing and details) There is an additional charge for using a different cpanel hosting company.

Usually the longest part of the set-up process is waiting for your new domain name or change of nameservers to be circulated all across the Internet

Here's how your blog will be established:

• I will install your blog and theme on the hosting account I will set up for you or on the Wordpress compatible host you designate using the login details you provide (there is an additional $50 charge if one of my hosts is not used).
• I will install and configure the plugins (usually 10-20) that turn your blog into a functioning online business that’s easy for you to maintain, easy for your visitors to find and use and even easier for the search engines to find and rank.
• I will create the RSS feed(s) that make it easy for your visitors to keep up with what’s new on your blog. In a premium installation, I will also register it with with Feedburner and many other directories to spread your influence wider .
• I will install and configure the plug ins that will ping the search engines and directories to visit and index your site each time you post (but not when you edit – so you’ll never be penalized for spamming the spiders)
• I will install the leading contact form and comments configurations that open the conversation between you and your customers while shutting out the comment spammers.
• I will install generic site use and privacy policies that will help you rank in the search engines and show your visitors that you can be trusted.
• I will include your main keyword terms (you provide) in your categories, links, and permanent page set-ups to properly lay the foundation of your free search engine ranking efforts.
• I will populate your blog with the initial posts and pages you provide (five maximum).I will write three posts for you as part of a premium installation.
  
• Of course, you'll get all the log-in details for all the accounts I'll create on your behalf including your domain registration, main hosting panel, wordpress.com (for spam blocking and stats), general email, feedburner (for RSS), and FTP details, etc.
  

If you have the following ready to go, we can launch your blog within 1-3 days (excluding weekends)

• Your hosting account - I will be happy to register your domain name for this project and set up your hosting account at one of these hosts. Cost of the domain name and hosting is separate from the blog installation price.
  • Host Gator - $7.95 per month (can be month to month, but my link must be used)
  • Dreamhost - $6.95 per month (minimum 1 yr. hosting purchase required)
  • Bluehost - $6.95 (minimum 1 yr. hosting purchase required)
    
• Initial posts - You supply one 300-500 word post for each category (main keyword) you would like initially displayed.
  
  
• Initial post photos/graphics - You supply any photos you would like displayed in your initial posts, or in the sidebars of your blog.
  
  
• Contact info - You supply the contact information and labels you would like used on your contact form.
  
  
• About info - You supply one 100-300 word description you would like used for your "about" page. This is your chance to tell people what your business is about. I recommend you keep it focused on your customer and what they are likely to gain through reading your blog. Here is an example:

The "about" page, like every other page and post in your new blog can be easily edited to keep it up to date and in season.

 

I am able to offer this service at this price because I am an affiliate of some of the leading Wordpress blog hosting companies online. The cost of hosting is separate from the blog installation price and must be paid with the initial deposit so I can establish and set up your full hosting environment.

Once your blog is established, I will give you all cpanel, ftp, email, and database logins I set up along with instructions on how to change them for security purposes.

Domain Name - I can also register your domain name for you if needed or point your domain name to the correct host servers if you have it held by a different registrar than one of the hosts above. Domain name registration usually costs between $7.95 - $9.95 per year.

Get indexed, get found, get business

Off page elements are even more important than onpage set-up when it comes to getting your blog positioned to be found by potential customers or indexed in the search engines. Submitting a site to the engines and directories will no longer get it listed. Google, etal must find your site through links on other sites.

I will provide both human and spider visitors several ways to find you. Some of the avenues I will open for you will continue to spread your reach and influence every time you make a change to your blog, driving customers to your site days, weeks, or months after you launch.

Different sorts of businesses require different functionality. If you know you need additional security, eCommerce, or other functionality, I may be able to include them in a premium installation without the cost or time required for a customization project.

For example, if you're an accountant looking to provide a secure place for your customers to upload their tax data, your wordpress installation needs some additional security plugins, etc. that I can easily include. I'll flag your request for a basic installation and suggest any that are obvious from your request, but suggest you include them in your project outline as well.

What's covered?

• I will tweak your basic installation, amplifying many basic plugins. For example, instead of pining one service each time you post to your blog, you will now ping 30 of the top services.
• I will assist you in identifying the top keyword phrases that you are most likely to rank well for in the search engines and tweak your basic installation to use those terms as onpage defaults. These are the same terms I will use for your initial off page linking below.
• I will not just create the RSS feed(s) that make it easy for your visitors to keep up with what’s new on your blog. In a premium installation, I will also register it with with Feedburner, Feedage and many other directories to spread your influence wider. Syndicating your content around the web is a great way to bring visitors back to your site.
• I will bookmark your first posts by hand with several leading social sites and directories to increase your chances of being indexed faster (sometimes within hours) and get you started with high quality backlinks to help you rank well in the search engines.
• I will submit your blog to the leading blog catalog sites and include required code on your site for additional backlinks
• I will install and configure additional plugins that are also considered fairly standard, but not universally beneficial for things such as directory logins, email newsletter signup widgets, ad-rotator widgets, etc. You will bear any cost to obtain these programs and plugins.

Need more theme customization or eCommerce functionality?

Some Wordpress "themes" (as designs are called) can be heavily customized while others can't. The type of customization needed may also be more suitable for one sort of design than another. If it's especially important that your blog follow a certain color scheme, or if you want a different header image or your logo image used, please email me before you place your order. I can probably save you hours or days of hunting to find something suitable.

Costs for customizing your theme will vary depending on the work needed. Typically, creating a custom header can be done for around $25-30.

I can also help you build your online sales catalog, membership site, client upload area, and so on. These would be considered one time projects which would need to be quoted separately.
